Sixteen states have filed a major amicus brief urging the U.S. Supreme Court to take up International Partners for Ethical Care v. Ferguson — the challenge to Washington’s SB 5599.
This is the law that allows youth shelters to withhold a runaway minor’s location, safety, and medical information from parents if the child claims to be seeking “gender‑affirming treatment.” No abuse finding. No due process. No parental involvement.
We’ve got the full breakdown of the law, the lawsuit, and what’s next.
One of the amicus briefs even includes part of my own story with my twin daughters a reminder that these issues aren’t theoretical. Real families have lived the consequences of these policies.
