The Northwest Symphony Orchestra (NWSO) and the Washington Trails Association (WTA) are once again joining forces to present their third annual Celebration of Washington Landscapes, a unique event that blends live orchestral music with the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest.
The performance will take place on Friday, April 24, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. in the S. Mark Taper Foundation Auditorium inside Benaroya Hall, (200 University St). Doors open one hour before the performance, and the event will run approximately two hours, including an intermission.
As part of the 2025–2026 season, the event invites audiences on an immersive journey through Washington’s wilderness. Stunning images from WTA’s annual Northwest Exposure Photo Contest will be projected on a large screen, paired with live performances of sweeping works by renowned composers including Maurice Ravel, Georges Bizet, Edvard Grieg, and Richard Wagner.
Adding to the experience, special guests The Musical Mountaineers will return to the stage to perform and present the world premiere of their newest short film, further highlighting the connection between music, and the outdoors. These musicians, Anastasia Allison and Rose Freeman, pair their love of mountaineering with music as they pack in their violin and piano and head out to perform in the wilderness.
Some of the current Highline Journal staff attended last year, and it was an unforgettable night, immersed in wonder and beauty, with music expertly choreographed to breathtaking nature photography.
Both NWSO and WTA are longstanding Washington nonprofits dedicated to enriching lives. Proceeds from the event will support NWSO’s mission to showcase the full spectrum of classical music, with an emphasis on contemporary Northwest composers, as well as WTA’s efforts to connect people to the outdoors and foster a community that actively cares for trails and public lands.
The cities of Burien and SeaTac are both major partners and supporters of the NWSO in Washington State.
The event promises an inspiring evening where art and environment come together, offering audiences a chance to experience the region’s landscapes in a truly unforgettable way.
