Our team recently broke a major story that proves exactly why paying close attention to local politics matters. This viral video of KCGOP Executive Board Member, Victoria Palmer, speaking to the Seattle City Council  blew the top off Seattle’s latest unaccountable spending scheme, and our grassroots research has been picked up by independent media like Newsmax and The Post Millennial.

What did we uncover? Activists are demanding taxpayer dollars for a supposed influx of 40,000 trans and queer “refugees.” We looked at actual numbers which showed only a small number of trans people re-locating to Seattle, closer to a few hundred. Despite the math not adding up, Mayor Katie Wilson’s new Interdepartmental Team (IDT) is exploring “low barrier” grants—meaning that recipients could remain anonymous due to an abundance of concern for their privacy.  Certainly this opens the door to potential abuse of funds.  At a time when the city is already facing concerns over unaccountable spending and budget deficits this funding push should be halted in its tracks.  

The IDT was given a 90 day window to complete it’s work so there will be critical opportunities for public comment in August and September. With enough public attention on this issue we can stop it before it begins.

I’m JoAnn Tolentino. After 46 years of marriage, raising 4 children who are now wonderful parents themselves, and adopting a child from foster care, I’ve learned that strong families build strong communities — and strong communities deserve representation that listens.

For 34 years I taught private music lessons. I studied Music Therapy and saw firsthand how the arts, reading, and the basics can light up a child’s confidence. I’ve also worked in Governance, Risk, and Compliance — experience that taught me how to read a budget, spot waste, and demand transparency.

Now I’m running for Washington State Representative in the 45th Legislative District, Position 1, because Olympia needs more common sense and less party dogma.
