Should non-violent felons be disarmed for life? That is the central question in the case we are talking about today. Washington Gun Law President, William Kirk, discuses the pending Supreme Court petition in Zherka v. Bondi, a challenge to 18 USC 922(g)(1) which is the Federal prohibition on felons possessing firearms. The Circuits are all over the board on this issue, so resolutoin and clarity is greatly needed. This challenge focuses exclusively on non-violent felons and currently sits before the Supreme Court on petition. Is it possible that the DOJ joins in supporting this petition? Is it possible that this issue can be resolved once and for all? We discuss all of that today so that you can be armed with education.
