A new study ranks Washington among the top states losing taxpayers most often on net to other states. The study used IRS data between 2021 and 2022, long before state Democrats enacted a record-shattering $9.2 billion in new taxes during the 2025 legislative session, exacerbating Washington’s affordability crisis.
Now legislative Democrats are proposing new income tax bills, including a new tax on wage earners modeled after Seattle’s JumpStart tax.
