Washington has ranked among the least affordable states in the nation for years, long before any recent changes to national trade policy.
We face some of the highest costs for housing, groceries, child care, and fuel anywhere in the country. If affordability were driven by national forces alone, every state would look the same. They don’t. Washington stands out because legislative Democrats in Olympia have repeatedly raised taxes and created costly economic barriers.
The top priority for House Republicans in 2026 is simple: Make Washington affordable for the people who live here, work here, and raise their families here.
