Thurston County’s screwups and lawbreaking by both elected officials and bureaucrats while approving the 2025 property tax levy amounts is a good illustration of what happens when you elect clowns and crooks into local government and probably, in party, an inevitable result of hiring too many Evergreen State College grads. However, this is also an example of how despite the widespread incompetence and lawbreaking, sometimes they can still avoid more egregious outcomes.
This is also an illustration of how important it is to better understand how government is supposed to work in order to prepare to reform, repair, and fix the damage done by unqualified and incompetent people who occupy these positions today. For those looking to reform and fix local government, always be willing to dig deep into the weeds to better understand what is happening where you live. Thurston County is not alone.
