We The Governed – Feds require Thurston County to pay back missing $668k fraud cash – 1st county in America. Good job

Thurston County stays in the news once again with recent publicity of being the first county in American where the Feds are demanding tax grant dollars be returned which were obviously wasted on fraud. In this case $668k were sent to non-existent addresses and fake people, among other problems, and like many of the future financial scandals in Thurston County – they were funneled and administered by a local grant grifting non-profit. When this story first surfaced back in 2022, the non-profit claimed there was no fraud. They lied. The fraud was so obvious that even Thurston County Auditor’s office had to expose it. This money will come out of the general fund, Thurston County taxpayers are on the hook.

This would be easier to resolve if we had elected officials and senior bureaucrats capable of making adult decisions, but in Thurston County, people like this are hard to find in leadership situations. There will be more stories like this in the future.
