In a Presidential election year, it is easy to miss the less hyped, more obscure special elections that are still on the ballot this year. This is particularly true with the “Special Election” held this year in Washington State on February 13, 2024. Not everyone in Washington State is impacted by this election – but roughly 45% of you are impacted, and you should have received at least one ballot (up to a dozen if you live in King County). The issues usually on the ballot are school levies and bonds. If passed they increase property taxes.
Your votes count more during these elections than at any other time. Even small numbers of votes can swing the election. Don’t forget to vote. Don’t outsource your vote to others. Make educated decisions based on your own research.
