A friend of mine watched his neighbor’s home being built by a large corporate homebuilder. The obvious defects of this substandard construction bothered him so much he contacted his neighbors, but they were retired collect professors, and they didn’t want to hear about it. This house will have a nice facade and start falling apart in a few years. I saw the house myself as it was still being constructed, and it reminded me of local government and how people are often unwilling to look past the fake facade and realize how defective and corrupt on the inside it really is. This will lead to many problems in the future, which we can’t avoid, and which must be addressed.
