Washington State’s Attorney General Bob Ferguson has managed for almost 12 years now what appears to be a pay to play scheme as the State’s Attorney General with millions of dollars in SAAG contracts to law firms who coincidently also are campaign contributors to his political campaigns. Despite having 800 taxpayer funded attorneys on staff as the largest law firm in the state, the AG’s office also issues many SAAG contracts, worth millions of dollars, which essentially deputize various law firms and attorneys around the state to do legal work on the state’s behalf.
This is an excellent way to reward political campaign contributors using taxpayer funds. This is never fully disclosed to the public, and it will take more research to completely uncover just how deep this pay to play scheme has been running under Ferguson’s direction. Additionally, it raises the question – how many other executive level elected officials do the same thing?
