I had a lot of questions recently in regards to the Republican County Caucuses, the Presidential Primary, the Washington State Republican Convention, etc. I’ve tried to explain this a bit better here just in response to the variety of questions I’ve received.
To reiterate, the biggest change for the Washington State Republican Party this year is really the convention itself where they will be formally endorsing Republican candidates for each of the state wide office races and the Congressional races for 2024. They will be doing this in April – a month before filing week closes in May. This is important timing because it gives candidates time to prepare, make decisions, and, in theory, avoid the usual self-immolation of Republican candidates flooding the zone during the primary and cancelling each other out in a Top2 Primary system.
