Western Washington University recently lost a $3 million jury verdict because they unlawfully fired a former auditor for not concealing financial fraud. Four years ago, we covered the beginning of this story with the fake “ghost classes” and “ghost credits” issued by the University in an effort to commit federal financial aid fraud. Presumably the new auditors are more amenable to this type of coverup. However, this unanimous jury verdict clearly vindicates the unlawfully fired former auditor and reveals many problems at this University.
